Math Festival in Maykopsky Region

On November 24, Caucasus Mathematical Center and Regional School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics organized Math Festival in Maykopsky region of the Republic of Adygea. Teachers, students from Grades 5-11 and their parents were invited to participate in the event.

The festival program included the presentation of the Caucasus Mathematical Center and Regional School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and 19 interactive stations. School children could watch science movies in the mathematical cinema, listen to the lectures, solve puzzles, put together non-periodic parquet, find the solution for a no-left-turn maze, and check their knowledge in mathematical battles and games.

Among the instructors leading the lectures for children, were the guests from Moscow: head of the laboratory of math and physics of the Polytechnic Museum of Moscow Evgeny Shiryaev and Head of the Laboratory of Popularization and Propaganda of Mathematics at Steklov Institute of Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, laureate of the 2010 Russian Federation Prize in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists, creator of the project “Mathematical Studies”, laureate of the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences for the propaganda of scientific knowledge Nikolay Andreev. The latter, together with Daud Mamiy (deputy head of CMC, dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Adyghe State University), lead a seminar for math teachers.

The school students who showed the best results at the lectures and stations were awarded books during the closing ceremony, and the library of School #16 in Tulsky received books from the CMC and the Fond “Trajectory.”
