Olympiad organizers are FSBEI HE “ Adyghe State University” and SBO AE of the Republic of Adygheya “Republican natural-mathematical school”.
The South-Russian Mathematical Olympiad “Assara” for girls was established in 2022. For the first time, the Olympiad was held in November 2022 at the Educational center “Sirius’ and was timed to coincide of 100th anniversary of the Republic of Adygheya statehood.
The Olympiad’s goal is to popularize Olympiad Mathematics, to increase interest in subject among girls, to strengthen ties between students who are passionate about Mathematics in the South of Russia regions.The girl’s path to science is the main idea of the Olympiad.
Daoud Mamiy said:”Girls and boys naturally have the same mathematical abilities, but under the influence of established social expectations of society in relation to girls, they are much less likely to choose exact sciences for professional development, and their successes in the field are less noticeable. There are always more boys than girls participating in the Math Olympiads. A limited number of girls from Russia can participate in the Mathematiical Olympiad for girls,which is held in China (CGMO) and Europe (EGMO).
The South-Russian Math Olympiad holding will expand the range of participants in the Olympiads in our country. We hope that the Olympiad will become traditional and will be popular along with similar foreign Olympiads”.
Holding of the South-Russian Math Olympiad for girls will become the part of Olympiad movement. It will support and develop the Educational center “Sirius”. The first Caucasus Math Olympiad took place in 2015. It was organized by the Adyghe State University.
Nowadays, this intellectual competition has already become traditional. It is symbolic that “Assara” also originated in “Sirius”.
