Creative Competition for Math Teachers

On May 11, the second round of the Creative Competition for Math Teachers of the Republic of Adygea took place. Caucasus Mathematical Center together with the Regional School of Science and Math were the organizers of the competition.

The goals of the competition include development of creative skills in math teachers, their professional development and exchange of ideas between math teachers, finding and support of talented math teachers.

The competition consisted of two rounds: remote and on-site rounds. From April 21 to May 3, 2018, the first round of the competition took place. Any math teacher from the Republic of Adygea could participate in this round. It consisted of two blocks: methodology and the Olympiad. In the methodology part, teachers had to find mistakes in the “solved” problems. In the Olympiad part, the participants had to solve the problems themselves.

Based on the results of the first round, the organizing committee formed the list of participants of the second round which took place on May 11. The second round consisted of two parts: Mathematical Olympiad for teachers and Creative Competition in Math. The Mathematical Olympiad for teachers consisted of two blocks: methodology and Olympiad. As in the first round, in the methodology part, the participants had to find the mistakes in the “solved” problems. In the Olympiad part, the participants had to solve the problems themselves. Participants were given four hours to finish the tasks of both blocks.
For the Creative Competition part, the participants had to prepare a presentation on the topic suggested by the methodological committee. This year, participants could choose any topic related to the more thorough or additional course of the Possibility Theory. They were given 15 minutes for their presentation.

The winner of the competition was Roman Chumakov, teacher from Adyghe Republican boarding school. The second place was divided between Elena Pashkevich (School 19) and Nataliya Strebkova (School 1). The third place was shared by Sergey Andreyanchev (School 4) and Svetlana Buyniyak (School 8).
