News | 31 May 2018

Today, the grand opening of the Mathematical Park took place in Maykop. This park consisting of mathematical objects of various kinds is the only park of this kind in Russia.

Among the guests who came to the opening, there were Murat Kumpilov (Head of Adygea), Valery Kozlov (Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Science), Vladimir Narozhny (Head of the State Council-Khase), Anzaur Kerashev (Minister of Education of the Republic of Adygea), Rashid Khunagov (rector of Adyghe State University), school children, students, and teachers.

For the first time, the mathematical objects like Moebius band, Seven Bridges of Königsberg, the Pythagorean theorem, dodecahedron, hyperboloid are gathered together in one place.
The park is constructed in a way that grass and all paths form the problem of Seven Bridges of Königsberg. Can you walk around the city crossing each bridge only once? This problem was solved by Leonhard Euler in 1736.

Now anybody can visit all art-objects in this park. They were all designed by famous artists and designers from Adygea: Asya Eutykh and Tatiana Vaganova.
The main goal of this park is to make adults and children interested in mathematics.

At the end of the grand ceremony, the Head of Adygea and the Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Science planted the maple alley.
