Closing Ceremony of the Southern Tournament in Mathematics and Camp “Young Mathematician”

On September 25, the closing ceremony for the 13th Southern Tournament in Mathematics and the 14th Camp “Young Mathematician” took place in the All-Russian Children Center “Orlyonok.”

About 200 school children from 30 regions of Russia participated in both projects that were supported by the Caucasus Mathematical Center. Five math instructors and seventeen jury members – leading Russian mathematicians from various regions – has worked with children for three weeks. For the last ten days, the participants have competed in their knowledge of math: in teams of six or seven, they were solving problems and defending their solutions in math battles.

In total, six teams participated in the start-league, eight in the junior-league, six in the premier-league, and six in the grand league.
The winners and award winners of the tournament are:

Start-league:

I place – Kurgan Center for After School Math Education 8 (Kurgan region, Moscow)
II place – Mordovia-8 (Republic of Mordovia, Republic of Tatarstan)
III place – Thinkers (Krasnodar territory, Moscow region), YarA (Yaroslavl region, Republic of Adygea)

Junior-league:

I place – The Field of Reason (Volgograd region, Republic of Adygea, Krasnodar territory, Kabardino-Balkar Republic)
II place – Dolgoprudny (Dolgoprudny)
III place – TNN (Nizhny Novgorod region, Republic of Bashkortostan, Tomsk region, Krasnodar territory), NOK (Nizhny Novgorod region, Krasnodar territory)

Premier-league:

I place – School of Physics and Mathematics of Tyumen Region 10.2 (Tyumen)
II place – Moebius Tape (Krasnodar territory)
III place – Adygea-2 (Republic of Adygea), Vologda (Vologda)

Grand-league:

I place – Syndicate (Yaroslavl region, Republic of Dagestan, Rostov region, Krasnodar territory)
II place – CoSMos (Nizhny Novgorod region, Voronezh region, Republic of Bashkortostan, Lipetsk region, Penza region)
III place – Kurgan Center for After School Math Education 1-11 (Kurgan region), School of Physics and Mathematics of Tyumen Region 10.1 (Tyumen)

During the closing ceremony, Daud Mamiy (the director of the camp “Young Mathematician” and the tournament, deputy head of the Caucasus Mathematical Center at ASU, director of the Regional School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of ASU), Lev Emelyanov (head of the jury for the tournament, senior lecturer of the department of higher mathematics at Kaluga campus of Moscow State Technical University, member of the jury for the Russian Olympiad in mathematics for secondary school children), and Nazar Agakhanov (head of the central subject-specific methods of teaching committee for the Russian Mathematical Olympiad for secondary school students, member of the Coordination Council of the International Mathematical Olympiad) wished the participants all the best in the future. After that, the director of the tournament Daud Mamiy and director of the camp “Solnechny” Alexandra Perevoshikova officially closed the tournament and the camp.
