On December 21, Caucasus Mathematical Center at Adyghe State University, bookstore “Chitai-Gorod,” and publishing company “Russian Fund of Support of Education and Science” organized a book presentation written by the research head of the Caucasus Mathematical Center, Alexei Savvateev. He presented his book “Mathematics for Humanities People.”

This book made it to the short list of the “Enlightener” Prize and was voted the Best people choice award winner among the “Natural and Exact Sciences Books.”   The “Enlightener” prize is awarded annually for the best popular science book in Russian.

Among 70 people who came to the presentation, there were schoolchildren, teachers of mathematics, participants of the conferences “Mathematical Talent and Mathematical Education” and “Extremal Combinatorics and Discrete Geometry”, as well as residents of the city who are interested in books and science. The participants in the meeting asked various questions to the author, starting with questions like why mathematics for the humanities people and ending with questions about quantum mechanics. At the end of the meeting, everyone could purchase the book “Mathematics for the Humanities People” with the author’s autograph.
