On December 22, 2018, the Festival of Mathematics took place in the Palace of Sports “Yakub Koblev” at Adyghe State University. The festival was organized by the Caucasus Mathematical Center at the Adyghe State University (CMC ASU), the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Sciences of the ASU, and the Regional School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. About 1500 people participated in the festival, among them were schoolchildren, students, teachers of mathematics, parents, participants of the conferences “Mathematical Talent and Mathematical Education” and “Extremal Combinatorics and Discrete Geometry,” and residents of the city. Also, several honored guests visited the festival: Minister of Education, Science and Youth Policy of Krasnodar Region Elena Vorobieva, Deputy Minister of Education of the Stavropol Region Denis Zhornov, Deputy Head of the Foundation “Talent and Success” Alexey Gorbachev, Rector of Adyghe State University Rashid Khunagov, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Adygea Anzaur Kerashev, First Deputy Director – Head of the Lyceum for Gifted Children of the budget educational institution “Academy of Children’s creativity” Sun City “, Minister of Education, Science and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria Tamara Dzhappueva, Head of the Vladikavkaz Center for Continuous Mathematical Education Vera Abaturova, heads of 9 school districts of the Krasnodar Territory.

The festival program included the opening ceremony and interactive stations. During the opening, the following persons greeted the participants:

• Daud Mamiy (Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Sciences of ASU, Director of the Regional School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Deputy Head of the Caucasus Mathematical Center at ASU)
• Nikolay Andreev (head of the laboratory of popularization and propaganda of mathematics of the Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences)
• Andrei Raygorodsky (Director of the Physics and Technical School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, head of the Caucasus Mathematical Center, co-author of the book “Who Needs Mathematics?”)
• Alexey Savvateev (professor of MIPT, research head of the Caucasus Mathematical Center, author of the book “Mathematics for Humanities People”)
• Asiya Apisheva (student of Moscow State University)

After the opening, the participants could visit 30 interactive stations where they could listen to popular science lectures, solve puzzles, put together non-periodic parquet, walk in the no-left-turn maze, build a self-supporting structure, test their knowledge in topology, mathematical battles and play the game called “Conquest.”
