Paperstraws and cardboard mazes at the math art festival

News | 18 November 2019

Educational Center “Sirius” hosts the fifth November Math program.

Daud Mamiy, program CEO and Adyghe State University Rector believes that everyone should have equal educational and self-improvement opportunities. This is why the participants, apart from immersing themselves into solving problems and tasks created real, tangible art as they saw it.
This time they had to challenge their creative abilities and create art objects from scratch. “Scratch” in this case means duct tape, paints paper and cardboard – for shape, textures and structures. The teams had only one criteria – their creation must be in some way connected to the theatrical world. Hence the masks, mirrors, photo zones and even fictional characters. Everything – from the mock-ups to the real – sometimes endearingly huge objects – was the product of students’ imaginative minds.
Such activities help the children to relax, recharge and unwind after a day filled with solving math problems.
Needless to say, all objects feel right at home at the educational center and grace the halls and study rooms, waiting for new partners in their adventures.
