October 5-6 Republican Scientific and Mathematical School hosted the second Southern Math teachers competition.
The participants assembled from the Southern and North Caucasus Federal Districts. The participation was free of charge, voluntary and anonymous.
Prize and award winners received customary diplomas and souvenirs, as well as free pass for the Caucasus Mathematical Center educational programs. Four teachers with the best overall results have internship program permit in the “Sirius” educational center during their November mathematical program.
First-prize winner was Natalya Strebkova, a teacher at both Lyceum # 8 and RSM School.
Second prizewinners were Mikhail Gurov (Rostov Region), Natalya Dvoeglazova (Krasnodar Region), Natalya Lesnichenko (Krasnodar Region), Elena Pashkevich (Republic of Adygea) and Maria Chumakova (Republic of Adygea).
Third prizewinners were Anton Vereschshagin (Republic of Adygea), Madina Tlyustangelova (Republic of Adygea). Tatyana Troitskaya (Republic of Adygea) and Galina Schneer (Krasnodar Region).
The competition consisted of two assignment blocks – Olympiad and Methodology assignments. The participants were to solve as many problems as possible; in some of them they were to propose more than one possible solution. The methodology assignments contained false solutions and errors. Both assignments had four hours’ time limit. Apart from the competition itself, the participants had an extensive entertainment program. Visits to the Mathematical Park and “Polyaris-Adygea” regional center, lectures and panel discussions.
