Today the Assembly Hall of Adyghe State University held the Closing Ceremony of the Olympiad. More than 160 students participated in the Olympiad to win the title of the best mathematician. Not only Russian students participated this year, but also students from Bulgaria, Sweden, Peru, Turkey, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Uzbekistan and many more.
True to its motto “Caucasus without borders!” the 6th Caucasus Mathematical Olympiad brought together 15 countries and 16 regions of Russia in total.
The Olympiad was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Adygea, Adyghe State University, Caucasus Mathematical Center at Adyghe State University and the Republican Science and Mathematics School.
The annual math celebration would not be as festive without the help from the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Adygea and our trustworthy partner – the ITV Company that provided the participants with nice prizes.
This year the Caucasus Mathematical Olympiad welcomed school students from Southern Russia (Southern and North-Caucasus Federal Districts) and Saratov Oblast as well as students from Abkhazia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Iran, Kazakhstan, Peru, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan.
The Russian students came to Maykop to participate in person whereas the international students were able to participate online. The Olympiad brought together about 200 guests (including accompanying teachers, members of the Organizing Committee and the Jury, and students).
Aside from the competition, the participants were also invited to learn more about the nature, history and culture of Adygea, attend educational math and science lectures, take part in various cultural and sport activities. The participants went to the foothills of the Western Caucasus, visited Guam Canyon and took part in various games and quizzes. They even had a real dance party!
