On July 31, by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the honorary title of “Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation” was awarded to Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Federal Professor, Head of the Caucasian Mathematical Center of the Adyghe State University, Director of the Phystech School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology Andrey Raigorodsky. The document was published on the official website of the Internet representative office of the President of Russia.
Andrey Mikhailovich Raigorodsky is the director of the Phystech School of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at MIPT, chief researcher and head of the laboratory of advanced combinatorics and network applications. Laureate of the 2011 Russian Presidential Prize for young scientists. An active popularizer of science, the author of several popular science books and brochures.
Professor Raigorodsky is the author of over 200 scientific articles. His research interests include combinatorics and combinatorial topology. He also works on practical applications of graph and hypergraph theory, in particular, constructing models and studying random web graphs.
Since 2017, Andrey Raigorodsky has headed the Caucasian Mathematical Center of Adyghe State University, whose main objectives are the development and popularization of mathematical science. The ASU CMC is actively working to create a modern mathematical school in the south of Russia, implement Olympiad and educational programs, develop young talents and involve regions in scientific dialogue. With the support of the Caucasian Mathematical Center, a number of unique mathematical projects are being implemented: the All-Russian shift “Young Mathematician” in the All-Russian Children’s Center “Orlyonok”, the International Caucasian Mathematical Olympiad, the South-Russian Mathematical Olympiad “Assara” for girls, the Summer Mathematical School in Adygea, the student school “Modern Combinatorics and Game Theory”, in which schoolchildren and students from 68 regions of Russia and 22 countries of the world take part.
In 2021, within the framework of the Priority 2030 program, the consortium “University Mathematical and Digital Ecosystem of the South of Russia” was created to identify and support mathematical talents. It includes ASU, MIPT, NTU “Sirius”, Yandex and the VDC “Orlyonok”. With the active participation of Professor Raigorodsky, ASU, together with MIPT, is actively working to create a modern mathematical school in the south of Russia, implement Olympiad and educational programs, develop young talents and involve regions in scientific dialogue.
